Gavin OldhamGavin Oldham, Chief Executive

Gavin’s responsibilities include all aspects of control and oversight, including the Group’s strategy for growth. Founder of The Share Centre, having previously established Barclayshare (now Barclays Stockbrokers) for Barclays Bank, Gavin plays an active role in business affairs and is a regular contributor to radio and TV.An elected member of the General Synod and a Church Commissioner, he also serves on the Church of England’s Ethical Investment Advisory Group, is a trustee of Personal Finance Education Group (pfeg) and the founder of The Share Foundation.

Guy KnightGuy Knight, Group Sales & Marketing Director

Guy brings extensive practical experience across the insurance, investment banking, stockbroking and retail banking sectors. He has held a variety of marketing, general management and board positions at companies including Hiscox Insurance, Deutsche Bank, Charles Scwab, Credit Agricole, The Mortgage Corporation and Nationwide Building Society.  He is responsible for PR, marketing communications, brand management, product and pricing strategy, and corporate sales.

Andy ParsonsAndy Parsons, Head of Investment Research & Advisory Services

Andy joined The Share Centre in 2006 as a fully-qualified financial adviser via the Chartered Insurance Institute and has over 23 years financial services industry experience. Andy holds the Private Client and Investment Advice and Management (PCIAM) Paper, part of the SII Diploma, along with a Diploma in Investment Compliance, and a CISI Certificate in Investment Management.  Andy is also a Chartered Member of the CISI.  As Advice Team Manager, Andy manages and develops the services offered by The Share Centre’s Advice team. Part of his role is to establish and maintain close working relationships with external financial services providers such as fund managers. Andy has been instrumental in creating and managing our sister company Sharefunds, Funds of Funds and establishing our Platinum 120 range of Funds.  Andy takes a broad view of financial planning and is a regular contributor of general financial advice and articles to the media.

Graham SpoonerGraham Spooner, Investment Research Analyst

Graham joined The Share Centre in 2001 as an FSA-approved investment adviser. He advises on a wide range of investment services including UK equities and investment trusts.  He started his career in 1977 as a trainee dealer on the Stock Exchange trading floor. Two years later, Graham became a fully authorised dealer, a position which he held until 1986. Graham continued his career as a dealer at Chase Manhattan Bank, Svenska Bank and Midland Bank before moving to emerging-markets specialists, City of London Investment Management.  Now a respected voice in the media, Graham’s comments on the markets and share tips are frequently sought by The Financial Times, The Times and The Daily Telegraph.

Helal Miah Investment Research Analyst

Helal Miah, Investment Research Analyst

Helal joined The Share Centre in 2012 as an Investment Research Analyst. He graduated with a degree in economics in 1998 and has since been working within the investment industry. He has helped manage private client, institutional, retail and hedge funds with a focus on asset allocation and global macro strategies. Helal has worked for some reputable companies including Schroders, The Industrial Bank of Japan and Mitsubishi Corporation. He has also spent some time as an independent proprietary trader, trading the US equity futures market. Helal holds the Securities Institute Diploma having passed papers in Fund Management, Private Client Investment Management & Advice and Regulation. He also holds the Investment Management Certificate and has passed the CFA Level 1.

Sheridan AdmansSheridan Admans, Investment Research Manager

Sheridan joined The Share Centre in 2006 as a fully qualified financial adviser.  He passed the Securities Institute Regulation, Securities and Investment Management papers and holds the Securities & Investment Institute (SII) Diploma.  He is also one of the joint fund managers for our sister company, Sharefunds, Funds of Funds and helps select our Platinum 120 range of funds.  His views have been sought after by a range of personal finance publications including, What Investment? magazine, Moneywise magazine and Shares magazine.

Liz RaeLiz Rae, Advisory Services Manager

Liz joined The Share Centre’s advice team as an Investment Adviser in 2009 before taking on the Advisory Services Manager role in 2011. She is responsible for our online investment guidance services and undertakes media opportunities as and when they arise on advice related matters.  Liz is an industry experienced professional having previously held a number of roles in management and sales & marketing across life office and IFA environments.  She also has considerable experience working in client facing advisory roles, identifying client needs and providing solutions to those needs on an individual basis.  Liz holds the Financial Planning Certificate as well as Private Client Investment Advice & Management.

Ian BenningIan Benning, Product Development Manager

Ian has over 30 years of experience working in financial services, and joined The Share Centre in 1998 initially as the Customer Services Manager, moving into the product development and marketing team in 2003. Prior to joining The Share Centre Ian worked for Natwest bank for 20 years in various customer services positions. These roles included advising on the bank’s insurance and savings products as a Financial Planning Manager and managing the performance of a team of Personal Account Managers. Ian manages our successful investment competition Shares4Schools, where year 12 students invest real money in the stock market over a 7 month period. Ian also helps develop existing and new products and often comments on our services in the press.
